The impressive renaissance castle was built in 1562 and is surrounded by a moat. After a fire in 1987 the castle was rebuilt by the descendants of the constructor and stylishly restored. Today it is once again the residence of the Family of Maltzahn.
Location
The manorial estate is situated between Waren and Teterow midst a spacious park directly by a lake with bathing area and fishing docks.
Accommodation
Today the castle complex functions as hotel with 33 non-smoking rooms with bath tub/shower, WC, hair dryer, radio, TV, telephone, and internet access.
Food and Beverage
The restaurant is situated in the old horse stable with its stalls, which was lovingly redesigned into the rustic and cozy restaurant “Am Burggraben” with terrace and a beautiful view upon park and lake.
Activities & Wellness
Since the reconstruction the castle also functions as a place for artistic events. Each year from June to September the festival of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with its various concerts takes place in the impressive barn (1.000 places) and in the ballroom of the castle (400 places). In the Christmas time at the advent weekends there are a lot of concerts as well..
